A clear plan of what you want the automation to do
How Long Will It Take?
Basic automations take 5–15 minutes. Templates are quicker, while multi-step workflows with conditional logic may take longer. Planning first will save time and reduce errors.
When to Use Automations
Automations are ideal when you want something to happen based on a user action. Common examples:
For time-sensitive emails like newsletters or workshop reminders, use Marketing Email Campaigns instead.
Step 1: Set Up Your Trigger
Go to Automations > Create New Workflow and choose a template or start from scratch.
The trigger tells your automation when to start. Include necessary filters and keep triggers to a maximum of two to avoid errors.
Step 2: Add Workflow Steps
Build your workflow by adding steps such as:
Sending an email
Waiting a set number of days before the next action
Granting course or membership access
Adding a tag to a contact
Using conditional logic to customize actions
Step 3: Test Your Automation
Use test contacts to simulate the trigger. Check that:
Triggers activate correctly
Workflow steps run in order
Emails send correctly
Memberships, courses, and tags apply as intended
Step 4: Publish Your Automation
When testing is successful, publish your workflow to make it live. Remember to save your work frequently.
