How to Use the New Customizable Theme for Courses in FEA Create

Updated over 2 weeks ago

FEA Create now includes a brand new customised theme option for your online courses. This exciting update gives you more control over how your course looks and feels, so you can make it more visually aligned with your brand. Even better, once you’ve created a custom theme, you can save it as a template to quickly apply it to future courses—saving you loads of time!

This tutorial will guide you through how to access and use the new customisable theme.

Step 1: Open your course

Go to Courses > Products, then open the course you'd like to customise.

Step 2: Open the Course Customiser

Click on Customise.

Step 3: Browse System Templates

You’ll see a selection of standard themes. Click on Browse System Templates to view them.

Step 4: Select the Neo Classic Theme

Look for the Neo Classic Theme—this is the only theme currently available with full customisation options. (All themes will have this option in the coming months.)

Step 5: Create a Template

Once you’ve selected the Neo Classic Theme, click on Create Template. This will allow you to build your own design and reuse it later on other courses.

Step 6: Customise Your Theme

You can now start tailoring the theme to suit your brand:

  • Set your colours: These might be automatically pulled from your brand colours.

  • Choose your fonts: Pick one that fits your style (you can preview different ones to see what works).

  • Background image: You can use an existing one or upload something new.

Step 7: Edit Each Section

You can click into each section of the page (like the header, footer or main content) to edit it individually. This makes it super easy to tweak things just the way you want.

Step 8: Customise the Lesson View

Click into a lesson to edit how the lesson page looks. Here you can:

  • Adjust the sidebar content (course content, instructor info, downloads)

  • Add an instructor profile or cross-sell an image or offer

  • Use a Custom Block to add extra content (like text or images)

  • Rearrange the order of items in the sidebar

Step 9: Save and Reuse

Once you're happy with your design, save it. You’ll also have the option to save it as a reusable template. This way, when you create a new course, you can apply this custom theme without starting from scratch.

That’s it! You’ve now got a beautiful, on-brand course design—and it’ll be so much quicker to set up the next one. Have fun!
