How to Add Closed Captions to a Course Video in FEA Create

Adding closed captions to your videos can make your course more accessible to everyone

Updated over a week ago

Adding closed captions to your videos can make your course more accessible to everyone, including people who are deaf or hard of hearing, those who prefer to read along, or anyone watching with the sound off. It's a great way to make your content more inclusive and easy to understand.

Here's how to add closed captions to your course videos in FEA Create:

Step 1: Go to your course

Head to Create Your Offer > Courses then click on Products. Choose the product you want to edit and click to open it.

Step 2: Open the lesson with the video

Find the lesson that has the video you'd like to add captions to and open it.

Step 3: Click the CC (closed captions) box

Underneath your video, you'll see a small CC box. Click on this to begin adding subtitles.

Step 4: Upload an SRT file

You’ll need a .SRT file, which is a type of file that contains the subtitles for your video. Most video editing tools (like iMovie, Adobe Premiere Pro, or online platforms like Kapwing or Loom) allow you to export subtitles in this format.

If you're using a tool that supports automatic captioning, look for an option to download or export the captions as an .srt file.

Click Upload File, choose your .SRT file, then select the language of the subtitles.

Step 5: Edit or add more languages (optional)

Once your captions are uploaded, you can click the Subtitles icon again to make changes or add subtitles in other languages. Click the pen icon to edit any of the text.

Step 6: Save and check your captions

After making any edits, click Update and Save

Play your video to check that the captions look right.

And that’s it! You’ve now added closed captions to your course video.
