How Do I Migrate My Memberships Area To Client Portals?

Migrating Your Existing Memberships to the Client Portals in FEA Create

Updated over a week ago

In this tutorial, we will guide you through the process of transitioning your Memberships area to take advantage of the enhanced functionality offered by the Client Portals. Let's get started!

Step 1: Assessing Your Current Setup

1. Identify if your Memberships area has its own domain or a custom domain.
2. If you have a custom domain, you will only need to update the A record to migrate to the Client Portals.

Step 2: Updating the Custom Domain DNS Record

1. Access your DNS settings in your domain provider's dashboard.
2. Locate the DNS record associated with your custom domain in the Memberships area.
3. Update the IP address to the new value: 34.67.19.69.
4. Save the changes in your DNS settings.

Step 3: Verifying and Updating Your Domain in Client Portals

1. Go to your FEA Create dashboard and navigate to the Client Portals section.
2. Click on the "Domain Setup" tab.
3. Verify that the updated IP address is reflected in your custom domain settings.
4. Click on "Update Domain" to save the changes.

****REMEMBER TO DELETE THE DOMAIN FROM YOUR MEMBERSHIPS AREA FIRST BEFORE VERIFYING IN THE CLIENT PORTALS AREA

Step 4: Seamless Login Experience for Members

1. All existing member logins will continue to work seamlessly in both the Memberships area and the Client Portals.
2. Members will not require separate logins for each area.

Step 5: Key Differences Between Memberships and Client Portals

1. The Memberships area will retain its core content without the new features available in Client Portals.
2. Client Portals offer additional features such as communities and an affiliate dashboard.

Step 6: Choosing to Migrate or Continue with Memberships

1. If you prefer to keep using the existing custom domain for your Memberships area, you can continue to do so.
2. To migrate, update the DNS record with the new IP address and configure the custom domain in the Client Portals settings.

Step 7: Setting Up a New Custom Domain (Optional)

1. If you decide to create a new custom domain for the Client Portals, ensure your email notifications include the correct login URL.
2. Use the login URL specific to your custom domain, rather than the default login URL.

By updating the DNS record and configuring the custom domain in the Client Portals settings, you can seamlessly transition your members to the new features and functionalities. Remember, both the Memberships area and the Client Portals will work with the same member logins. If you have any questions or need further assistance, our support team is ready to help. Enjoy exploring the enhanced features and benefits offered by the Client Portals in FEA Create.
