Here’s how you can set up and customize your 404 error page in FEA Create. A 404 page is what your visitors will see if they click a link to a page on your site that doesn’t exist. Instead of landing on a blank screen or a confusing error, you can design a helpful page that guides them back to where they need to be.
Let’s go through the steps together.
Step 1. Open Your Website
Log in to your FEA Create dashboard. Go to Websites & Funnels then select Websites. Choose the website you’d like to edit.
Step 2. Locate the 404 Page
With the FEA Create template, you’ll already have a page called Error 404 set up. Find this page in your list of website pages.
Step 3. Edit the 404 Page
Click the down arrow next to Error 404 and select Edit in New Tab. This will open the page builder where you can fully customise the look and feel of your 404 page.
Step 4. Customise the Page
You can update the text, add your own branding, and change the background image. You might also want to use an image from your media library or select from Unsplash’s collection. Most importantly, make sure the Back to Homepage button works correctly:
Click on the button
In the right-hand settings panel, scroll down to Button Actions
Select Link To > Go To Page > Select your homepage
This ensures your visitors can easily return to your homepage.
Step 5. Save Your Changes
When you’re happy with your updates, click Save and then Publish to make your 404 page live.
Step 6. Assign the 404 Page to Your Domain
Go back to your dashboard. At the bottom left, click Settings. From here, select Domains. Find your domain, click the three dots on the right, and choose Edit. Under Set Default 404 Error, select the customised 404 page you’ve just created. Save your changes.
Step 7. Test Your Page
To make sure everything is working, type in a made-up link on your website (for example, yourdomain.com/thispagedoesnotexist). You should now see your custom 404 page appear.
That’s it! You’ve successfully set up your own 404 error page in FEA Create. This little extra touch not only keeps your website looking professional but also ensures your visitors always find their way back to your content.
