How to Claim your Website on Pinterest

Updated over a week ago

Claiming your website on Pinterest links your content to your profile. Your profile picture will appear next to Pins saved from your site, users can follow you directly, and you’ll get insights into how your content is performing. Using a Pinterest business account gives you even more tools to grow your audience.

While the process may vary slightly depending on your website provider, the DNS TXT record method is generally the most reliable way to claim your website.

Step 1: Copy Your TXT Record from Pinterest

  1. Log in to your Pinterest business account

  2. Click the downward arrow in the top-right corner and select Settings

  3. Go to Claimed accounts in the left-hand menu

  4. Click Claim next to Websites

  5. Copy the TXT record under Add TXT record

  6. Click Continue

Step 2: Add the TXT Record to Your Domain

  1. Open a new window and log in to your domain host (e.g GoDaddy)

  2. Go to the DNS record section

  3. Paste the TXT record you copied from Pinterest

  4. If required by your host, add @ in the Host field

  5. Save your changes

  6. Wait up to 72 hours for the changes to take effect

Tip: Some domain hosts may use slightly different wording or menus. Check your provider’s support resources if needed.

Step 3: Verify Your Website on Pinterest

  1. Return to Pinterest

  2. Enter your website URL in the verification box

  3. Click Verify

Pinterest will automatically check for your TXT record. Once your website is successfully claimed, you can remove the TXT record if you like.
