Do you want to make sure students complete one section or lesson before moving on to the next?
This tutorial will show you how to lock content in your FEA Create course.
This means students must finish one part before unlocking the next, ensuring they follow the course in the right order.
What is Locked Content?
Locked content ensures that students cannot skip ahead in your course. They must complete one section or lesson before they can access the next.
For example, if your course has multiple categories (like Week 1, Week 2, Week 3), you can lock Week 2 until students finish Week 1. Similarly, you can lock individual lessons inside a category, so students must finish Lesson 1 before moving on to Lesson 2.
This keeps students on track and helps them progress in a structured way.
How to Set Up Locked Content
Step 1: Organise Your Course into Categories
Create a main category for your course. This is the overall structure of your content.
Add subcategories inside the main category. These will be your different sections (e.g., Week 1, Week 2, Week 3).
Step 2: Lock Your Course Content
You can lock categories (sections of your course) or lessons (individual pieces of content).
Lock a Category
Click the "Locked" icon next to the category you want to restrict.
Select the prerequisite category that students must complete before unlocking this one.
Lock a Lesson
Click the "Locked" icon next to the lesson you want to restrict.
Select the prerequisite lesson that students must complete before unlocking this one.
Troubleshooting Tips
💡 If content is unlocking too soon:
Double-check that each category or lesson is correctly locked and has a prerequisite set.
💡 If students can’t access content after completing the previous section:
Confirm that the system is marking the previous lesson or category as completed correctly.
Locking content is a great way to keep students engaged and ensure they complete your course in the right order. Now you’re ready to create a structured and guided learning experience in FEA Create! 🚀
