Making Your Community Groups Private in FEA Create

Updated over a week ago

Private groups are only accessible to invited members and won't be visible in the group switcher unless access is granted. This feature is useful for creating exclusive, invite-only communities.

Step 1: Access Group Settings

Before you make a community group private, ensure that the group is set up within your FEA Create dashboard. Navigate to your dashboard and go to "Memberships" and then "Community Groups." Locate the group you want to make private and log in as an admin to that group.

Step 2: Adjust Group Type

Inside the group settings, find the "Group Type" option. Here, you have two choices:

  • Public: This setting allows anyone to join the group. It's suitable for open communities or lead generation groups.

  • Private: When you set the group to private, it becomes an invite-only group. Non-members won't see the group unless you specifically grant them access.

Step 3: Set Visibility Preferences

If you want the private group to be visible to non-members but not accessible, ensure the "Accessible from Switcher" option is turned on. If you want the group to remain entirely hidden from non-members, turn off this option.

Step 4: Confirm the Changes

After making your selections, confirm the changes by clicking the "Save" button. FEA Create will ask you to confirm the change in the group type; click "Confirm."

Step 5: Invite Members

To populate your private group, head to the "People" tab within the group. Here, you can invite members. Click the "Invite Member" button, enter the name and email address of the person you wish to invite, and decide whether to make them an admin. Once you've filled in the details, click "Invite."

Step 6: Managing Your Private Group

Once your invitees accept the invitations, you will see them listed in the admin area of the group. They'll have access to the group's discussions and content.

Whether you want to provide specialized content or limit access to a select audience, the ability to set your group as private and invite members offers you the flexibility to tailor your community to your needs.

Please note that private groups ensure that only invited members can access the group content, but they won't be included in automations or workflows. For any further questions or assistance, don't hesitate to reach out to our support team.

Enjoy using private community groups in FEA Create to create exclusive and engaging online communities!
